And here is the news that would shake the Islamic World from its deep slumber and complicity. The Extremist ISIS fanatics are finally out to destroy the Muslim Centre of Gravity! A reported member of the militant group ‘Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham’ aka new ‘The Islamic State’, has declared that they will destroy the Holy Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which is Islam’s most holy site.
APA quoted alleged ISIS member Abu Turab Al Mugaddasi based on reports from Turkish media, who said on Twitter:
“If Allah wills, we will kill those who worship stones in Mecca and destroy the Kaaba. People go to Mecca to touch the stones, not for Allah.”
ISIS reportedly is planning to take over the city of Arar in Saudi Arabia, which is very close to the Iraq border. It is a fifteen-hour drive away from Mecca, the site of the Hajj pilgrimage which all observant Muslims are expected to do at least once.
I pray and hope that it would never happen. However, the adherents of new Salafist-Jihadist ideology that had emerged during the war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s have typically maintained a megalomaniacal global terrorism since its inception.
Osama bin Laden, Abu Musab Al Zarqawi and now the new self-proclaimed Caliph Abu Bakar Baghdadi, the scions of of savage Takfiris Clan were allowed a free run and encouraged by clandestine rich individuals, States and brain-washed masses of a large section of Islamic World. The newly designated Islamic State is just a phenomenon, a standing metaphor of that connivance, tacit moral and material support that seems to boomerang on those who were playing at that Casino.
While the Shia Muslims, despite persecution and suppression in most of the Islamic countries have been reacting with patience and aplomb, the Sunni leadership appears to be a confused lot. They have not been able to decide and set right their priorities. The turmoil in Muslim States Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Somalia and Nigeria of Africa, the burning Palestine and hidden friendship with Israel and clandestine supports for Kurds gives a murky picture of the political immaturity of the leadership of these embroiled nations.
In fact, ISIS was never been a challenge for battle-hardened and sanction-seasoned Iran. With the new geopolitical realities that emerged after Saddam Hussain’s departure, the Shia’s of Iraq would never compromise their supremacy in governance and in armed forces of Iraq.
Chances are that Iraq would split into Kurd, Sunni and Shia States. It never goes against the interests of Iraqi Shias or Iran except some rich petrol fields of Kurd areas. The Shias would become more cohesive if ever that happens, But the new equations would be fatal, the real threat and deepest challenge the Islamic States of Sunni-majority in the Arab world.
The terrorists of ISIS had also threatened to assassinate the Shia leader Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, “At present, the Shiite religious leader in Iraq is a person named Ali Sistani who is a remnant of Safavid generation. We warn all Shiites that Sistani should leave Iraq, otherwise, we will kill him.”
The security officials in Iraq’s Southern city of Najaf, where Ayatollah Sistani lives assured that security measures have intensified outside the Shia leader’s home, and said, “People should be confident that the dirty hands of Wahhabists will never reach our Great religious leader.”
The new ‘Islamic State’ claims to represent all of the Muslims of the world. It doesn’t matter how ridiculous such pretensions patently are. It has many buyers still as it is such a grandiose and extravagant dream. Latest among the towering admirers of ISIS is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of Malaysia who had caused consternation among many Malaysians when he reportedly urged UMNO members to emulate the exploits of ISIL which he said had defeated an Iraqi force outnumbering it.
The United Malays National Organisation(UMNO) is Malaysia’s largest political party which has played a dominant role in Malaysian politics since independence.
What the world is witnessing at large is a wild-eyed and bloodthirsty ideology with immense organization capability of seizing and maintaining power in specific strategically and politically significant areas in the heart of the Arab world. The Islamic State is far more dangerous and disastrous for the regional strategic landscape than any established and restrained Shia State.
‘Islamic State’ is creating a situation that seems almost certain to produce major and sustained strategic gains for Iran and President Assad of Syria. In the latest development, Syrian Armed Forces are taking very limited actions against the forces of ISIS at Syrian border. It is doing nothing more than occasional air-bombing with minimal casualties. Arabs are not showing sagacity and farsightedness in tackling the most volatile situation of the recent history.
If the mainstream Arab societies and states fail to defang the monstrosity of ISIS at this juncture, this new entity would put the region at the top of the Religious and Cultural Volcano. The inferno would engulf the entire peninsula. The fact of the matter is that ISIS is still a New Ideology in the Mask of Islam. It has nothing to do with the true Sunni Islam. It has finished the Nusrah Rebellion of Syria and buried deep Al Qaida in the Syrian deserts.
The new ‘Islamic State’ has declared its leader, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, as “Caliph Ibrahim ibn Awwad” and it demands complete obedience from all Muslims. The new Caliph’s has proclaimed that “Syria does not belong to the Syrians and Iraq does not belong to the Iraqis.”
This is the new language of ‘New Virulent Jihadist International’. The brutal extremism of the Islamic State could undoubtedly hold a certain romantic appeal for some bigoted Muslim constituencies. However, better sense should prevail in Islamic world to protect their turfs and save the world from this latest declared catastrophe.
