About Adrita Dey Ghatak

If garlic is the spice to food, and music is to love, then insanity is to art and to created brilliance. I prefer to refer myself as a mason, agent provocateur building castles in the air, of communication with the bricks of language: an apt tool of communication. Considering the fact that both my background has essentially formulated me- literature and my mass communication degree, i have developed a myriad vision in writing thus paving the way for fabricating reel domains for real Renaissance. My interest in sociology, history and world literature has been intriguing enough to render me a stand as an objective onlooker to the human life. The psychological study and the philosophical innuendos have led me to a path where i see and measure the collective unconscious and channelize the same into reflective contemplation.Like the saying-“Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not. ” That ‘why not’ and what could be defines me. Freedom, Liberty and Voicing the unvoiced, attaining the unattainable-there lies my Promethean desire and Lust. My mantra in life: “Find! What you LOVE, and let it KILL You….”

A graduate in Journalism (h) from University of Delhi, I am a firm believer in the power of pen. Staying updated with the latest happening around the world and penning down my take on them is what interests me. Social issues, politics and entertainment are my key interest genres. I follow a very hardcore, no-nonsense style of journalism and having strong view points and a will to call a spade a spade is my cup of tea. Writing, from being my passion, has come a long way as I strive to make a difference every single day. I love the soothing effect reading has on me, so you will always see me immersed in books, newspapers or articles of many opinioned people! To break through the shackles of stereotypes, hypocrisy, duality and bias is my biggest challenge and motivation, which has brought this commerce student in the field of arts and culture!

About Vijaya Dar

I was born 70 years ago in Srinagar Kashmir, and after graduating with
Honours in English from the University of Delhi, studied business
management at IIM, Calcutta, when this discipline was in its infancy
in India. I belong to the second batch of the IIMC, from where I
obtained my Post-Graduate Diploma in Management in the year 1967.

Worked for five years in India and abroad with a multinational
organisation, and then started own manufacturing and export
enterprise. After 30 years as an entrepreneur, decided to retire and
moved to Coonoor in the Nilgiris in 2006. Have been leading a quiet,
sedentary life in the hills enjoying the weather and the wonderful
company of like-minded people.

The current political situation in India demands that people engage
with it. For too long have we left the business of politics to
politicians who have made a complete mess of it. The blame largely
rests with us and if we do not rectify it now, we shall have no right
to complain about the cesspool in which we live. I am incensed by the
apathy of our intellectual classes and vent out my frustrations in
writing from time to time. Most of what I write does not find space in
mainstream media. But that does not stop me from giving expression to
my feelings. This piece too is one of them.

I am not a Hindutva fanatic and have no time for the Mandir zealots,
but neither am I an Indian who denies his cultural roots in Vedic and
pre-Vedic civilisations. In fact, I am proud of my heritage of Kashmir
Saivism and all the other streams of Hindu/Buddhist/Jain/Sikh/Sufi
philosophy that irrigated the intellectual fields of this great
country. It, therefore, pains me to see a deliberate denial of our
past and the calculated denigration of our heritage, that seems to
have become a part of our national policy. The fragmentation of our
society stems mainly from this denial of history.
