“Its my choice to have sex outside marriage…….”, is the only bold statement from Homi Adajania’s video ‘My Choice’ (starring Deepika Padukone), that has captured the most of the attention rather than the strong message it conveys- “The men and women must be treated equal. There must be similar set of rights & choices for all, irrespective of the gender”.
Undoubtedly, the selection of words is incorrect. But, the motive is to make you realize that ‘she’ is free to make choices like ‘him’. Having sex outside marriage or returning home at 6 in the morning is certainly wrong, but equally for both the husband and the wife. Also, the video says- “It’s my choice…” & not that “it’s the perfect choice….”
The video simply orients at spreading a very sensitive message of ‘Equality’ for all, be it a man or a woman. It appeals to stop judging only a woman on the basis of her choices, likes & dislikes, size & clothes. It appeals only to respect a woman’s choices or freedom and not to disrespect a man’s choices or freedom. So, there lies no point in knocking it. It says that a woman’s love, care or responsibilities for a man must be treasured and not be taken as privilege.
The facts & statistics say that the percentage of men getting into infidelity has always been higher than that of women. And for those, who consider it unhealthy for the society, kindly watch another video (featuring KRK) released in response, composed of plenty of dishonored remarks and aweless statements such as- “Deepika isko deti hai, usko deti hai..”. Must it not be regarded as unhealthy or bad or unfair for the society?
So, guys…there’s nothing to debate about it. Try & understand the gravity of the message given by the video. Law should be one for one & all. It only demands those choices for women that the men have already been making since ages.
