It was a mixed bag: 30 March episode of Comedy Nights with Kapil featured the actors and producer of recently released O Teri and sports stars Jwala Gutta and Vijendra Singh. Last night’s episode was big on variety but a little low on humour.

O Teri Poster 210x300 Comedy Nights with Kapil – Promoting Cinema & SportsIt was a mixed bag last night at Kapil’s house – apart from doing the usual plug for a upcoming or just-released film, the 30 March episode of Comedy Nights with Kapil also featured two of India’s high profile sports stars and some other of the usual comedy routines.

Comedy Nights with Kapil – Part 1

The show opened with a rigmarole featuring a milk man and a green grocer who arrived with bills in excess of Rs 1 lac hoping to make Kapil cough up longstanding debts. The sequence also featured his beleaguered man servant dressed as a lion and a couple of cops. The whole sequence seemed somewhat forced and not terribly funny.

Comedy Nights with Kapil – Pulkit, Bilal and Atul

The show’s next segment featured the actors Pulkit Samrat and Bilal Amrohi and producer Atul Agnihotri who appeared on the show to promote their recently released film O Teri. The two actors came across as young, enthusiastic and unaffected and did a little dance to a song from their film. Bilal mimicked his favourite actor Salman Khan and everyone had to suffer dadi’s enthusiastic kissing.

The final segment of the show featured badminton player Jwala Gutta and boxer Vijendra Singh. Jwala Gutta did not quite look the fit athlete she is supposed to be. Sporting extremely lush curves, she looked rather Amazonian, her already tall 5’10” frame enhanced by high heels and her blonde hair appearing strangely discordant.

Vijendra Singh is soon to make his Bollywood debut with the film Fugly, and he chatted a bit about this. Arguably India’s best looking boxer gave an impression of being endearingly close to his roots; his Haryanwi accent coming across clearly.

All in all the show was rather long winded and tried to pack too much into it while being a tad low on the usual Humour Quotient.
