The Emperor of Emperors, Ashoka is the only monarch whose glory finds its place in the present day Republic India in the form of the Ashoka Pillars, Ashok Chakra, Ashoka Mudras and the emblem, which is an adaptation of Ashoka’s Lion Capital.
About The Serial
Written by renowned author Ashok Banker, the serial will tell us more about Ashoka – Right from his struggle as a younger child of Bindusara to how he rose to power, his state of expiation after the bloodbath of Kalinga, and finally his journey towards Buddhism.
We have heard and read only tidbits of Ashoka in our history books. Hope, the historical retelling will deal not just with the biopic of Ashoka but also the lesser known facts surrounding the great Mauryan ruler.
Whether the serial is on Ashokavadavana or Dayavadavana , it is unknown, however, one hopes that the serial will stick to the basic facts mentioned in the Sri Lankan Pali chronicles, Mahavamsa and Dipavamsa.
Who is Ashok Banker?
A well known contemporary writer, Ashok Banker is famous for his mythological retellings besides writing essays, crime thrillers, mythological fiction and literally criticism. He is best known for his eight book Ramayana series where he fantasizes the epic poem. The Ramayana series was published in 7 languages and in 56 countries and was appreciated by critics.On the Internet Book List it was also ranked No. 1. In India, the series is still very popular among the masses.
Epic India library is Banker’s brainchild where he retells all the myths, and facts of the legendary stories. Besides Ramyana Series, the Mahabharata series, Krishna Coriolis, Kali Rising Thriller series along with other works can be found in this library.
With Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Ashok Banker is making his comeback in TV after two decades. The Show Will be Produced by Contiloe Entertainment and Telecasted on Colors
After Veer Shivaji, Colors took a sabbatical from historical shows. However, the channel seems to be back with a bang since it is coming with othe story of Ashoka, which we Indians are waiting to hear from long. The show will be produced by Contiloe Entertainment, the same company which produced Veer Shivaji and is now producing Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap on Sony TV.
Going by the past historical dramas produced by Contiloe, it seems that the show will be appealing in terms of grandeur, allure and aesthetics. Besides, Ashok Banker’s mythological readings are always a pleasure to hear, read and see.
