An accident that happened more than 10 years ago is still haunting superstar Salman Khan like a nightmare.
Salman has become a newsmaker once again for his 2002 hit and run case. While the media has gone crazy to know what’s happening, Salman Khan has decided to keep media and his fans updated.
Salman has come up with a website called www.salmankhanfiles.com that will contain all the information pertaining to the case.
Agreed that a crime was committed more than a decade ago but then he should have been punished around that same time! Why linger on a case for so long…just because he is a celebrity?
I am not a Salman fan but my logic is: What is the point of punishing someone years after he committed the crime? We all know that during all these years he has realised his mistake, repented and contributed some good causes.
Good deeds count too
Since the incident or accident, so to say, that happened a decade ago the actor has indulged in various charities and social causes. Everyone knows he has launched a charity by the name of ‘Being Human’ which is quite a success by now. All this and a lot more charity work has been done by him.
People should remember the good work too. In my opinion penalise someone for his wrong doing just when the time demands it.
Laws should be made country specific
The case has re-opened and Salman is all set to be tried for rash driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. If found guilty under section 304 (II), he could be sentenced to 10 years in jail, which is the maximum punishment as per the section.
Rules should be made country specific. The act where commoners are sleeping on pavement when the actor’s Land Cruiser kills one and injures four is surely an accident and not a crime committed out of some evil intention.
It rather shows the Indian situation in bad light where on one front we claim to be a to-be super power and on the other front we have people sleeping on road in one of the most celebrated cities of India.
If Salman Khan is to be blamed for killing those innocent people so should the authorities of Municipal Corporation for allowing people to sleep on road sides.
I am sure there are more such cases in past where decision is still pending. So why trap just one person, just because he is a superstar? Also, is it justified enough to put a person in jail for rash driving? What purpose does it serve? Salman’s conscience is already guilty about what he did.
Putting a person behind bars is not the only way out. It’s important to re-visit / revamp our judicial system. There should be other ways to deal with such offences. An actor like Salman Khan is already into so much charity work, so why not get him to sponsor the underprivileged / indulge in social service work or maybe even provide shelter to thousands such pavement sleepers of Mumbai?
