Daisy Shah Bagged the Title of Miss Photogenic in Class 10.
Daisy Shah is a Mumbai Girl. She was born on August 25, 1985 in Dombivali. Her mother is a housewife and her father worked as a floor manager in a mill. When Daisy was in her 10th grade she participated in Miss Dombivali contest and bagged the title of Miss Photogenic.
Education and Career – Early Life
Daisy Shah is from a Gujarati family. She completed her B.A from Khalsa College Mumbai. Next, she started her career as a model. Interestingly, Daisy always wanted to be an air hostess and her father wanted her to be an IAS offer. But destiny had other plans. She joined a dance crew where she was paid Rs. 300 per day. This is precisely the time when Ganesh Acharya, her dance mentor spotted her. Later, he asked her to join his dance troupe.
She Started her Career as a Choreographer and Later Got into Kannada Movie
Next, Daisy started working as an assistant to Ganesh Acharya in various films including Aishwarya Rai’s Khakee and Zameen. In fact, she was also assisting Katrina Kaif’s item song Chikni Chameli from the movie Agneepath.
Later, Daisy Shah shifted from choreography to modeling and did several print ads. She was then spotted by a director Harsha who approached her for a Kannada film Chingari along with Darshan. However, the project delayed and she stepped out of the film. Acting was never a plan for Daisy but destiny brought her into films. Fortunately, she got other Kannada movies like Bhadra (2011), Gajendra and Akramana, and she became a known face in the Kannada Film industry. She has also done a Tamil film Mouna Mana Neram.
She Refused to Play the Role of Kareena Kapoor’s friend in Bodyguard
Interestingly, the first Bollywood project that Daisy Shah was offered was not Jai Ho but Salman Khan’ Bodyguard. However, Daisy refused to do the movie and it went to Hazel Keech, a British mode turned actress who is now a fiancee of Yuvraj Singh.
She has Done Item Dance as Well
Daisy Shah has done several item songs in her career – One in Bollywood film Bloody Isshq, two in Kannada film Bachchan along with an item song – Neeli Lomdi song in Hindi feature film Khuda Kasam starring none other than Tabu and Sunny Deol. After doing the role of a mainstream actress in Salman Khan’s Jai Ho she was again seen in an item song “Meri Jawani Sode Ki Botal’ in Hindi film Spark starring Rajneesh Duggal and Shubhashree Ganguly.
Her Rumored Love Affair With Ganesh Acharya
Buzz is that Daisy Shah was dating her mentor Ganesh Acharya. If sources are to be believed it was because of Daisy that Ganesh divorced his wife. However, Ganesh has denied such rumors saying he was never in a relationship with Daisy. Interestingly, the two are not in touch with each other anymore. She was also rumored to be dating Salman Khan when she was chose to cast opposite him in Jai Ho.
Daisy Shah was Convinced to do Hate Story 3 by Salman Khan
Bhushan Kumar approached Salman Khan and asked whether he should approach Daisy for Hate Story 3. He then approached Daisy who was a little skeptical to do such a bold act. When Shah asked Salman about the kissing scenes, he very bluntly replied, “Have you not seen Deepika, Alia, Katrina or Kareena do it?” to which she answered, “Yes, I have seen them do.” And that’s when he told me, ‘Then what’s your problem, go ahead with it.’
