With more than a hundred channels to choose from and a number of shows to captivate your attention, it’s difficult to choose which shows are worth your time and which shows can be given a pass. Being placed this week in the fifth position in the top 5 shows is DID- Dance ka Tashan. Even though the season finale took place on October 19, 2013 because of the TV premier of Chennai Express that week, it was re-telecasted last week and received the highest TRPs on the channel.
DID- Dance Ka Tashan is a dance reality show aired on Zee TV. The show features contestants from Dance India Dance: Super Moms competing against contestants from Dance India Dance: Li’l Masters 2. The show is judged by choreographer Ahmed Khan and Geeta Kapoor and hosted by Rithvik Dhanjani.
Dance India Dance or popularly known as DID is one of the most popular shows on Indian television. Since its inception on January 30, 2009, it has been very popular among the youth and families alike for its variety of Indian cultural and international dance styles ranging across a broad spectrum of classical, contemporary, Bollywood, hip-hop, jazz, Kalaripayattu, Salsa, Samba and musical theater styles amongst others, with many sub-genres within these categories being represented.
The national TV version of the hit Zee Bangla dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance which has Mithun Chakraborty as the Grandmaster- is India’s largest dance-based reality show.
Starting right after the Grand Finale of DID Supermoms, it takes the entertainment quotient several notches higher. The camaraderie between the hosts is superb; Nihar Gite and Rithvik Dhanjani are fun to watch in their little fights and leg-pulling with the judges and contestants alike. The judges are not far off either; both Geeta Kapoor and Ahmed Khan are perfectly billed for the roles. Although Geeta Kapoor has been a part of the show since the launch, Ahmed has been a surprise package with his tongue-in- cheek humor and funny comments.
I would give the show 4 out of 5 for its entertainment quotient.
The show has some really good talent to showcase. Every contestant- be it the Supermoms or the children- is excellent. Each performance is world class; one wonders whether they are professionals or amateurs. Even the choreographers take center stage in their face-off and show why they deserve to be there.
There are different themes and dance styles performed every week. This prevents the viewer from perceiving the show as repetitive or boring. The overdose of melodrama for which reality shows are known is absent here. The show follows up with excellent and fresh content to back the entertainment value of the show.
I would like to give 3.75 out of 5 to the content quotient.
As mentioned above, there are a number of dance styles performed every week. The show has some of the favorite contestants from both seasons – Winner Super Mom Mithu along with Cecille, Shraddha, Zoya, Shivangi, Sashwati, Radhika and Divya along with Li’l Masters Rohan, Saumya, Jeet, Om, Shreya, Shalini and the winner of DID L’il Masters Faisal Khan. For me the pick of the lot are Mithu, Cecile and Radhika. Not trained in the art of dancing, they manage to give 5 star performances whenever they grace the stage. However, the contestant who comes out as the star of the show is the little Jeet. He is truly the bada dhamaka in the small package.
I would like to give the show 4.25 out of 5 for its performance quotient.
Value for Time
The show is pitted against Bigg Boss 7– Weekend Ka Wow with Salman Khan.
However, with its entertainment and performance it has managed to give the Dabangg Khan a run for his money. With a running time of 40 minutes minus the advertisements, the show manages to give you a complete value of your time.
