Modi’s popularity seem to be on wane. For, his intensity of promising promises regarding development cranked down and down.

Voters who had thrown out the Manmohan Singh government for inefficiency and policy paralysis in the 2014 Lok Sabha election must be feeling utterly confused, if not let down.

Modi Manmohan face Namo MaMo Where Is The Development Agenda?

I remember when the NDA under Atal Behari Vajpayee was sworn in, there were charges that the BJP was following the agenda of other partners like Mamata Banerjee and Jayalalitha but had given up its own agenda.

So much so that when the BJP was showing off its ‘Shining India’ campaign the senior leaders of the RSS were very unhappy with the NDA government especially LK Advani.

lk advani1 Where Is The Development Agenda?

A senior RSS leader told me when I was posted in Kanpur, “we were very happy when Vajpayee became Prime Minister but after five years we feel cheated and betrayed. Everyone knows that the BJP increased its seat from 2 to 85 because of the wave generated by the Rathyatra led by Advani Ji for making the Ram Temple. But once they came to power they forgot their own agenda and spent five years only saving their own chairs.”

The results of the election proved that the BJP cannot survive without the support of the RSS which they like to call a cultural organisation.

This time the BJP has been able to get a majority on its own and that has changed its priorities which is becoming clearer every day and allies don’t matter.

While the Prime Minister continues to project the image of a man in a hurry to take India to greater heights economically the other ministers in his cabinet and the party not hiding their agenda. They have been assigned the duty of keeping their real masters (RSS) happy.

smriti Irani Where Is The Development Agenda?

Smriti Irani, who was made a minister despite losing the election in Amethi only to show that Modi does not care for public opinion has been imposing BJP supporters in all top slots be it FTII, censor board or the JNU. And now comes her latest directive to fly the national flag in all universities.

Supporters of BJP be they, advocates or elected representatives are openly attacking the media and those who differ by them by positioning themselves as the only saviors of nationalism.

Others labelled as fringe elements such as Mahesh Sharma, Subramanian a Swamy, Sakhshi Maharaj and the Muzaffarnagar MLA are not even tying to hide their agenda.

If this leaves the people cheated so be it. The people get the government they deserve.
