Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev is a television series based on legends featuring the Hindu God, also knows as Mahadev (the great god). The show narrates the most famous of these legends, sourced from the Puranas and the work of well known mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik,in an episodic fashion.
There is something mystical about Lord Shiva; his aura, his personality all make him fascinating to say the least.
Devon ke Dev.. Mahadev capitalizes on the same;however I would like to point out that whoever is a keen follower of the Almighty and anticipates a perfect interpretation of his life journey; beware there are spoilers ahead.<!–more–>
This show isn’t the first on the life of Lord Shiva and I am pretty sure watching the success of this one; it won’t be last.
The show doesn’t follow a linear story pattern; as said in the disclaimer, its a depiction of various events of the life of Shiva which not need be as it happened.
The strongest point of the show is Lord Shiva himself; Mohit Raina who plays the part does complete justice to the part; he eats sleeps walks even does the tandav with Perfection!! The actress who plays the role of Parvati has recently been recently replaced, the new replacement Pooja Bose has hardly any dialogues, with big shoes to fill, there are tough times ahead. With a generation leap which the show has taken, Ganesh ji, the son of Lord Shiva was really likable but the new actor who plays the role of adult Lord Ganesha fails to connect with the audience. Lord Karthik and the other actor play their part well, however fail to create an impact. The actor who plays Lord Vishnu’ Saurabh Raj Jain is a bright prospect, hop to see more of him.
The Visual Effects are good at times, terrible at the other, the dialogues is the hero of the show, it creates a huge impact on the audience, bravo writers!!! The direction is good, however there is a lot of left to be desired for the screenplay.
The show may not be the perfect example to learn about the life of Lord Shiva, but makes for great entertainment nevertheless!!!
