While doing a School Play, Ram realized that he should Take Acting as his Profession

Ram Kapoor was always into movies. In fact, from a very early age he not only watched Hollywood and Bollywood, but even films from various parts of the world. But acting happened only in Ninth Standard when he gave auditions for a school play “Charlie’s Aunt” for Founder’s Day celebrations. He studied in Nainital’s Sherwood College – a residential co-ed school. In three months of rehearsals and five performances, Ram realized that acting is something which he should take up and even pursue in future.

He Moved to Delhi to Do Theatre

After realizing the fact that he can act and should continue acting, he then moved from Nainital to Delhi. Here in Delhi he did several plays, but mostly English plays. While doing these plays, he not only brushed his skills but also realized that he should take “Acting” as a career. He then decided to go abroad to study acting.

Ram Kapoor Got Himself Enrolled in United States’ Stanislovsky School Of Method Acting

All the actors who inspired Ram Kapoor were method actors right from Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brandon to Al Pacino. So, Ram was keen to join this school of method acting where he could learn the art from the experts.

However, the actor failed to get an admission in his first attempt. So, for a period of one and a half years he worked in the United States. He could finally manage to get admissions there. Post his completion of the two year course he came back and got into the acting course.

Ram Kapoor then Got an Offer from Sudhir Misha for a Film

After completing his two years course from the Method School of acting, Ram Kapoor got several roles. However, he denied them all because none was inspiring enough. He then got a call from Sudhir Mishra for a film. However, due to some reasons the film never worked out.

It is after this that Sudhir Mishra offered Ram Kapoor a TV show on DD which he was directing. The show was Nimbus Productions’ Nyay. Though the serial took some time to take off, once it was on air within six months Ram Kapoor started getting offers from various production house. Nyay was aired on DD in 1997.

…And Then He Got Balaji’s Ghar Ek Mandir

After Nyay, Ram Kapoor didn’t take up any new work. In the year 1999, he took up Sangharsh where he played the role of Pitambar Tahilyani followed by another serial Kavita in 2000 where he essayed the role of Rishi Grover where he was paired opposite Smriti Irani. In the same year, he got Balaji Telefilms’ Ghar Ek Mandir where he (Rahul) was paired with Gautami Gadgil (Aanchal).

The viewers loved everything in the show – From the concept, the main leads to the chemistry of Rahul and Aanchal. This show made Ram Kapoor very popular. After two years, he even married his co-star Gautami Gadgil. The couple is still going strong. Gautami is currently seen in Star Plus’ new show Tere Shehar Main.
