We loved Surbhi Jyoti as Zoya (opposite Karan Singh Grover) and she is the reason why people are still watching Qubool Hai, the Muslim drama on Zee TV where she now plays a double role (Sanam – Seher). While, we know her lot as Zoya, Sanam and Seher, you’ll be surprised that the real Surbhi Jyoti resembles both Zoya and Sanam in many ways. Here we go:
Surbhi Jyoti Is a Punjaban
Born on May 29, 1988 in a Punjabi family, Surbhi grew up to be a pure Punjaban girl. No wonder, this is the reason why she loves essaying the role of Sanam where she gets to flaunt her Punjabi accent along with some Urdu. She was born and brought up in Jalandhar itself. She did her schooling from Shiv Jyoti Public School and graduated from Hansraj Morarji Public College. In addition, she also pursued her master degree (MA in English) from Apeejay School of Fine Arts.
Surbhi Has Won Competition of National Debate, Not Once but Thrice
If you watch her onscreen whether as Zoya or as Sanam, you’ll notice that no one can debate or argue with both the characters. Needless to say, these characters resemble the real Surbhi very well. Yes, to all our surprise – Surbhi has won the National competition in debate thrice.
She Did Punjabi Movies before Making a Grand Entry in Qubool Hai
Qubool Hai is Surbhi’s first TV serial. Before, that she did two Punjabi TV serials – Akiyaan To Door Jayen Na Kach Diyan – her debut serial on ETC Punjabi and later Kach Diyan Wanga (directed by Indeerjeet of Amanat fame). Only after seeing the promos of this serial, Surbhi was called by Gul Khan, the producer of Qubool Hai to come for audition. She also did 3 Punjabi films – Ik Kudi Punjab Di, Raula Pa Gaya(2012) where she was seen in a lead role as Reet, and Munde Patiala De where she played the role of Priyanka.
Before Doing Punjabi Films and TV, She Was Into Theatres
Surbhi was a theatre artist before she got into Punjabi TV and film industry. She did theatre for as long as 3 years. Also, she was a RJ who anchored several shows. Even during college days, Surbhi hosted several shows. No wonder, she has anchoring skills and experience for long. Perhaps that is why she is now so comfortable in hosting the show Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya on Zing Tv.
She Is Dating a Punjabi Munda
When she was questioned about her relationship, she maintained that she is single. However, buzz is that she has accepted the proposal of Punjabi TV actor Zorawar Singh (No, I’m not talking about Yuvraj Singh’s younger brother but brother of Punjabi actress Madhurjeet Sarghi). If gossips are to be believed then Zorawar was chasing Surbhi ever since the two met at a social gathering via a common friend. It was love at first sight for Zorawar. In an interview, Karan Singh Grover revealed that Surbhi’s bf’s name starts from Z,making it clear that there is enough substance in the gossips. Later, SJ revealed that she is friends with Zorawar from 6 years and fans should refrain from talking ill about him. One of her Instagram pics with Zorawar.
