Yes, I’m from Kolkata. Fortunately, I can mark myself safe. And by god’s grace, my family too escaped the mishap that fell over the so-called city of joy. But, what about them who are otherwise strangers but after what happened today, some how seem more than that. Because, may be, humanity connects me and them.
The pier which has been under construction since year 2009 and should have expectantly been finished by 2011, but its five years from then and the construction was still under progress. First of all, the congested narrow road of Ganesh Talkies (Burrabazar in north Kolkata) was never appropriate to support such venture. Yet, it was undertaken. To add more, corruption added more to the perils of project and the repercussions are prima facie. The communal dogma of Bengal politics has been perpetual since years, causing what not damages to Bengal. And once more, the politics of Bengal has taken a toll on lives.
And now the blame-game between parties would start and the agony of lost souls and their family would be buried along in the crematorium. Who to blame? Who not? Amidst the ruckus, dont’t-know how many laid silent on their death-beds. This project had been moving ahead in the vigilance of two governments, from CPM to TMC, but yet the looming disaster over the bridge couldn’t be taken care of.
I wish the departed souls to merge with divine spark. Sadly, these words are the only comfort I have on my part.
But, I would certainly plea to put each and every head, no matter in whatever way, responsible for it, behind the bars.
