2014 has been a fiery year! Here’s a snap shot of good things past #Throwback2014
BJP making a grand comeback with Modi,
Rani Mukerji and Aditya Kapoor’s affair finally turning into a beautiful beginning in Italy.
Shahid finally getting a role suiting his talent and caliber with Haider.
2014, has definitely shown us a lot!
But as we look forward to a new beginning in 2015, there are a few things, which we want to leave behind in 2014!
1. Duck face selfies!
Pouts and selfies made their way through all those who were incessantly self obsessed! But believe it or not, fake forced smileys, are now a cliché! We’ve had enough of pouts already! There are better ways to show off those luscious lips!
2. Alia Bhatt dumb jokes!
Initially even I bought this one. But eventually, I understood it’s not true at all. Alia has acting running in her blood and truly she has proved it this year. Giving 3 big hits in 2014, this girl did a brilliant job in convincing us that she is a versatile actor, and definitely that is not a career for someone who is dumb. Daddy’s li’l girl, has managed to come a long way.
After her role in Student of the Year, where she was to play a naïve protected rich princess; she surprised her critics by giving full justice to Chetan Bhagat’s character. This year, her role as a lost soul in Highway, has definitely raised eyebrows! I think it’s high time we bid those “Alia jokes” good-bye with 2014. She doesn’t deserve it!
3. The 100 crore club
With a lot of multiplexes opening today, what we need to understand is that it is not that big a deal when a movie crosses a 100 crore revenue. Many a time, movies that have lousy scripts, or weak storylines, need to publicize themselves through this strategy!
What we should really be aware of next year is, not to just go and book movies seeing the revenues! Also, just because a movie has a superstar casting, doesn’t ensure that the script would be good. This 100 crore club tag, is definitely vanishing next year!
4. Shah Rukh & Akshay: Leave this all behind!
Dear Shah Rukh Khan, your once upon a time fans like myself, miss your romance in DDLJ, your Kal Ho Na Ho charisma, or your boy next door appeal in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! Akshay and Katrina have literally sizzled the silver screen last year.
But this year Akshay has been busy romancing “girls”, not women! Definitely he needs to reviews his cast before signing the films! All I’m saying is, he’ll look hotter with women, near his age, and not girls half his age!
5. Bye Bye Anarkalis!
We have a number of stylish indian wear designers, such as Bhumika Sharma, Ridhi Mehra, Monisha Jaising etc making Indian wear as trendy and creative as ever! What would you want to wear? The same old anarkalis, or trendy dhoti pants, or leather lehengas?! Well, you know what to say good bye to!
6. Yo Yo- No No
Honey Singh’s “love dose” has been creating havoc for quite sometime now! Two drinks down at a party, and yo-yo songs seem to be mandatory for grooving! After he released his controversial song in 2012, which ended up being a messy affair for him; 2014 has seen a romantic Honey Singh with blue eyes, love doses and of course a sprinkle of vodka and all night parties! His journey has been so glorious that our desi kalakaar is worth 20$ million as on 2014.
Like a fashion trend, initially everyone seems to follow, and later everyone would discard it; the parties and alcohol in Yo Yo’s songs, does attract some attention; but eventually the hype fades out. Honey Singh songs never have a long life. So maybe 2015, will either see a new avatar of Honey Singh songs, because the trend seems to be diminishing.
7. Sonam Kapoor should be bashed!
Well, not literally! Her impeccable dressing sense has definitely helped her bag an unmovable title of a “Fashionista”! She’s remarkably pretty to carry off probably any thing under the sky! But her quirky sense of expressing herself is not so cool!
Everyone knows her loud behavior has brought her enough trouble! Doing roles that matched her personality, has worked in her favour, but knowing her talent, she could really try to do different roles, and maybe, filter things she has to say in the media! Sonam, we really expect to see a different side of you next year!
8. Sonakshi Sinha genre of films: bored!
From Dabangg 2 to Action Jackson this year, Sonakshi has not made any change in the genre of films she’s been doing. Most of the films with Sonakshi, have become synonymous to being nonsensical! Apart from being a superstar, one has to act to sustain in the industry.
Definitely we’ll be glad to bid adieu to this genre of films!
