Comedy Nights with Kapil on Sunday, 13 April 2014 featured our very own Jumping Jack of yesteryears, Jeetendra (real name Ravi Kapoor) and his son Tusshar Kapoor. In screen presence, humour and sheer personal charm and charisma, Jeetendra, alas outpaced his son by miles. The show started out with the family trying (and ultimately failing miserably) to win a Best Family competition and then went on to introduce the celebrities – Jeetendra & Tusshar Kapoor on Comedy Nights With Kapil.
Jeetendra on Comedy Nights
Predictably the show featured several of the songs from Jitendra’s biggest hits: Tohfa, Himmatwala and so on – at one point the 72 year old even got up to shake a leg with an audience member. When asked about his amazing dancing talent, it was rather sweet how he confessed to being a “Tota” – according to him he was only as good as the choreographer. He went on to narrate several very amusing anecdotes of his early days in the films and stories involving his friends in the industry.
All the time however I couldn’t help wondering if the man had had work done – the slightly expressionless countenance pointed to Botox. The smooth facial skin and the frozen- in-a-rictus-of-surprise expression seemed to suggest to a facelift and the strangely fuller face made one think of cheek implants.
Tusshar Kapoor on Comedy Nights
The man spent most of his time on the show either sitting in silence or avoiding Dadi and Palak (Kapil’s ‘wife’ thought to present Palak as a possible matrimonial candidate for Tusshar). The star of the show was clearly his father and the son was perhaps unwilling or unable to muscle in on his father’s star power.
And meanwhile here is a full previous episode of Comedy Nights with Kapil – this is Part Two of the Big B promoting Bhootnath Returns –
