Kangana Ranaut is one such actress in Bollywood who singlehandedly can run her women-centric films at the box office. A Bollywood “Khan” herself, she neither needs a Salman, an Aamir nor a Shah Rukh to get into the club of Box office super hits. No, not even marquee production houses! A good script is all she needs and then she knows what her job is.
Besides, Kangana is one such actress in Bollywood (unlike her contemporaries) who till now has always been eager to play characters that are not at all concerned about redemption. This is the reason why with Kangana we get to witness real characters in a Bollywood film, which otherwise is only possible in art-house or parallel cinemas.
This makes her an ideal choice to play character roles because this queen of Bollywood knows how to deliver anything above and beyond. Perhaps this is the reason why we hear that Kangana has signed a biopic on the Warrior Queen, Rani Lakshmi Bai!
Yes, Ketan Mehta has roped in Kangana Ranaut to play the role of Jhansi Ki Rani in his upcoming biopic Rani Lakshmi Bai
The Mangal Pandey director Ketan Mehta confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Kangana is on board.” About the film – Well, the film is an Indo-British production and Mehta is making sure that the film is made on a grand scale, which means the Tannu Weds Manu Returns star has to really work hard to give her best performance. The director also mentioned that, since he always wanted to make The Rising as a trilogy, Rani Lakshmi Bai will be the second part of his 2005 film Mangal Pandey.
Ketan Mehta is the same director who has given us several prominent films including Mirch Masala, Hero Hiralal, and Maya Memsaab.
Kangana Ranaut is Pretty Excited to Become a Warrior Queen
The moment Kangana was approached to play Rani Lakshmi Bai in a film, she got very excited. She not only loved the script of the movie, but was also impressed by the research that has been done by the writers. The film is expected to release next year, and Kangana is gearing up to train extensively in horseback-riding, sword-fighting and other warfare skills so that she can essay the role of Jhansi Ki Rani realistically! #LikeAQueen!
Hugh Grant Too Might Be Seen in the Film
If you are excited to see Kangana as Rani Lakshmi Bai then you’ll be more than delighted to hear the news that Hugh Grant too will be part of the film. Well, there are rumors which suggests that Hollywood hunk Hugh Grant is being approached by Ketan Mehta to portray the role of General Hugh Rose.
General Hugh Rose was the commanding officer in the Central Indian Field Force. He was the one who had crushed the Indian rebels at Jhansi in 1858. What’s interesting is that General Hugh Rose was the one who spoke greatly of Jhansi Ki Rani’s bravery during the time of uprising!
The film Rani Lakshmi Bai is expected to release in both Hindi and English!
