Karan Johar the Bollywood director and producer who lately turned actor with Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet is very upset these days. The reason? Well, KJo is sad that he is not getting any acting offers like he had expected post the release of Bombay Velvet which is based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book ‘Mumbai Fables.’
Karan is a multi-tasker who excels in almost everything that he takes up. Then whether it is direction or producing films, he knows his job very well. Off late, this ace director is also in the news for being an awesome standup comedian (How can we forget the famous AIB Roast). In addition, we all know what a great judge he is as far as reality shows are concerned (The actor is the judge of two reality shows – India’s Got Talent and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa). Besides, we are well versed with Karan’s anchoring skills too. After all, we have been waiting for the next season of Koffee with Karan, aren’t we?
However, the same thing cannot be said for his acting skills
When Karan played a baddie in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, he got a lot of rave reviews from family, friends as well as the industry wallahs. Though the film (which also starred Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor) doomed at the box office, people did notice KJo’s intense performance as an actor. This was Karan’s debut performance if you do not consider his small stints in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Om Shanti Om and Kal Ho Na Ho.
Now since he received a lot of appreciation for his role as a rich businessman, the producer turned actor thought he would at least get some acting offers. However, much to his surprise he never received any call for acting offers.
If you liked my film give me a call ~ Karan Johar
During the press release of his film Bahubali when the media asked Karan Johar about the same, the aspiring Bollywood actor reportedly said, “I should be offered more work. I have been waiting for that phone to ring; but I don’t have, not one offer. Please if you liked my film give me a call. At least give me a chance to refuse.”
Karan further added that, getting no offers for acting means nobody liked my acting in the film.
I’m not Stupid to Cast Myself in Film ~ KJo
Karan Johar said he is eagerly waiting for film offers even poor offers so that he can refuse it. When suggested by the media that he can cast himself in his own film, Karan quickly retaliated sayin, “I’m not that stupid to cast himself!”Now this is the reason why we admire Karan Johar so much – This gutsy man totally knows how to publicly make fun of himself.
In the movie launch of Brothers when Akshay Kumar made fun of Karan’s acting stint, the funny man laughed and said,”Why are you throwing salt on someone’s wounds?”
