Lord Krishna, the sutradhar of Mahabharat had his own leela in the entire Mahabharat. He was the one who actually made things happen while others only wondered what will happen now or what can we do after that.
For instance, Krishna played a very important role in giving the Pandavas their sole heir in the form of Parikshit through Abhimanyu who was his sister Subhadra and friend Arjun’s son. A visionary, he made possible the marriage of Subhadra with Arjun when Balram, his elder brother had already given Subhadra’s hand to Duryodhan.
That is why, when Balram and the people of Hastinapur where busy preparing for the marriage of Subhadra and Duryodhan, the would be bride smartly ran off with the would be groom’s cousin to Indraprasth. And the conspirator of this plan was none other than Lord Krishna himself who tells Subhadra to ride the chariot so that it makes the spectator look like Subhadra is abducting and not then the vice vera.
The reason of going to such an extreme was very simple. Subhadra loved Arjun and she wanted to marry him at any cost. Arjun too was very attracted to Subhadra’s beauty and wanted to marry her desperately. In the new Mahabharat, while it is shown that Subhadra is excited there is no excitement from Arjun’s side towards Krishna’s half sister Subhadra.
Also, I was kind of taken aback when I saw Balram smiling in a mocking way in spite of getting burnt with anger when he gets the news that Subhadra eloped with Arjun. Perhaps, this Balram seems to be a contemporary Balram who is in sync with his younger brother Krishna and is well aware of all his leela.
