“In totality the NDA Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving in the ‘right direction’ and its nine month journey is satisfactory”, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) here on Sunday.
Talking to media persons at the last day of the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS)-the highest decision-making body of RSS, Sarkaryawah Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi said that that the Modi government was treading in the proper direction to fulfill the promises they had pledged to the people during the Lok Sabha election.
Underlining the fact that the victory of BJP-led NDA under the leadership of Narendra Modi was brought about by the strong social will as the society wanted to rid the corrupt UPA government. It was not a victory of any single person or party or organization, it was the change ushered in by the masses, he clarified.
Replying to a question on controversial land acquisition bill, the RSS leader said that with the amendments made by the government the bill should not be viewed as ‘anti-farmer’. In fact, the attitude of the government and its willingness to accept the amendments and introduce them into the bill exhibited Modi Govermnent’s open attitude.
He however, out rightly denied that any statement related to Hindutva posed any challenge to the Modi Governemnt. “No statement from any Hindu leaders has created any problem for the government”, he said in reply to a question on statements of ‘saffron’ leaders like Yogi Adityanath or Sadhvi Niranjana.
Responding to a query on the controversial ‘ghar vapasi’ program Bhayyaji Joshi said that Hindu was a life style and not any particular way or worship. In that sense the RSS believed that all those living in this country and having faith in the ethos, values and tradition of this country were Hindus notwithstanding their ways of worship.
But the conflicts began when the change of worship was taken as discarding values, culture and tradition of the country. This was not acceptable. “We will not compromise with the life values, culture and traditions of our country. Any individual is free to change his way of worship but he should follow the life values and culture of his ancestors”, he clarified.
Talking about the Hindus migrating to India from other countries due to persecution, the RSS leader said that this was a serious matter and needed in depth approach to resolve. He said that Hindus have no other place that India to seek shelter in times of distress. As such they should be allowed to stay here and the society and the government should take responsibility to settle them honorably.
Commenting on Goa Government’s decision to scrap the ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ holiday, he said that there was a need to increase the work days. “We have received a survey that underlined this scenario of holidays in India. Out of 365 days we have only 150 0r 180 work days. Therefore we need to change this work culture for better tomorrow”, he said.
