Dear Sonu Nigam,
Most people in the world love their sleep and would lash out at anyone who would disturb it(I’d probably do it too), so I understand where you are coming from, but along with freedom of speech, the constitution of India also allows freedom of religion. You probably don’t know the meaning of ‘Azaan’ and why is it called out 5 times a day.
Many people know that Muslims are supposed to pray 5 times a day and one of those times is at dawn. Let’s not get into the religious aspects of it; if we see generally, Azaan serves as a reminder to the Muslims who love their sleep too much and tend to skip their prayers. Some of us need a reminder sometimes to give up our precious sleep and wake up for prayer. It does not force religion on anybody, and it doesn’t threaten or steal people of their property as someone following”gundagardi” would do!
As India happens to be a huge religiously diverse country, we need to accept and respect each other’s beliefs and sentiments, and you being a celebrity and an artist shouldn’t need to be reminded about it.You people could play a huge role in bringing India together and showing the world how “rich” our country is instead of showing how “poor” the tolerance level in India is! Well, your sleep was disturbed, so maybe you weren’t in your diplomatic senses at that moment. Even if we don’t like some things, we need to respect each other’s way of life and cooperate a little.
I, a Muslim forgive you for not understanding what the Azaan means to us.I forgive you for initiating an unnecessary debate on a sensitive topic in an easily offended country.
Dear all, we Indians need to stop attending every argument we are invited to! Seriously!
An Indian Muslim!
