“To pursue public interest litigation is a useful tool but the chances of success are very low. The judiciary is kept independent from the government, but still judiciary works under pressure and there is corruption. Many times in favour of the public interest good vedicts are prnounced but could not get implemented as the court finds them difficult to get implemented. Many times the class character of the Court gets exposed and the public interest suffers. ” This was the analysis of Senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan at Gandhi Peace Foundation lecture on Monday evening at a function recently held. More than thirty organisations called on this talk oon the role of PILs unjust law’s deadlock.
