‘One Two Ka Four, Four Two Ka One’ is that one song which still rings a bell every time we think about 1989 Bollywood classic Ram Lakhan starring Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. In fact, Anil Kapoor is still asked to perform that step wherever he goes beside being asked to say ‘Jhakass’ in his signature style. Before we get nostalgic about this brilliant film, let me tell you, you will soon watch a Ram Lakhan sequel.
Though Sequels can be dangerous and risky, this will be great, I’ll tell you why –
Rohit Shetty Is Uniting With Karan Johar for Ram Lakhan Sequel
The original classic Ram Lakhan was directed by Subhash Ghai and was produced by his own house Mukta Arts. However, one certain morning last year(21 August 2014), Karan Johar’s production house @DharmaMovies surprised on Twitter when we saw a tweet from their Twitter handle that read something like this –“Here’s the big announcement! Rohit Shetty & Karan Johar, in association with Mukta Arts, presents RAM LAKHAN in 2016.”

Who is Ram and Who is Lakhan in Karan – Rohit’s Maiden Venture?
Ever since the above announcement made headlines, there was a big question who will replace the 80s actor and recreate the same magic once again? While, many speculated it will be Gunday actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh (as the world knows about their bromance!) who are both close to KJo, nothing was ever finalized. However, rumour has it that both these actors were the original choice to play Ram – Lakhan in Rohit and Karan’s maiden venture together. However, since both of them are already busy shooting for their upcoming movies, they couldn’t be a part of the final team.
Any Guess Who Is Replacing Jackie Shroff as Ram, and Anil Kapoor as Lakhan?
Well, considering Ram Lakhan remake has to go on floors as soon as possible, Karan Johar finalized his two Students of the Year. Yes, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan have been finalised for the Ram Lakhan sequel. The two actors will reunite all over again with this film after their debut film together. While, Sid will be seen as the honest cop Ram played by Jakie Shroff, Varun will recreate the same magic as Lakhan i.e. Anil Kapoor.
When Jackie was asked about his replacement earlier, he had mentioned Sid’s name
What is more interesting is the fact that when Jackie Shroff was asked who should replace him in the film, he without any hesitation had taken Sidharth Malhotra’s name. Talking about Sid, he had mentioned – “I think Sidharth (Malhotra) would be a very good choice. I have worked with him in Brothers and I’ve seen that he has the same level of sincerity that I had. Ram is someone who is very respectful to his mother, very loving to his brother and yet, is very strict as a police officer. He has all these qualities and I am sure will do a good job.”
Interestingly, Anil Kapoor’s Preferred Actor was neither Varun Dhawan nor Arjun Kapoor for the role of Lakhan
When Anil Kapoor was asked which actor he would want to see as Lakhan in the Ram Lakhan remake, he had mentioned Ranveer Singh’s name. While, we too think Ranveer would have been apt for this role, we can’t underestimate Varun as well. No wonder, the young actor has five hits back to back this year.
Wondering who will replace Rakhi in the remake? Will the original Song ‘Mere do Anmol Ratan will still be there? Who will play Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia?Well, keep watching the space, we shall update you about the same –
The film Ram Lakhan sequel is expected to release on October 2, 2016
