Randeep Hooda’s Efforts and Transformation for the Film
Looks like Randeep Hooda wanted to be a perfectionist. This is the reason why, Randeep has done for Sarabjit what Hollywood actor Christian Bale did for his film The Machinist. Yes, the Kick star has lost 18 kg in merely 28 days to look like Sarabjit, who stayed in the Pakistan Jail for years and was attacked by the inmates brutally.
Sarabjit wasn’t kept in good surroundings and to show how badly it affected the man’s health and wellbeing, Randeep who plays the titular role in the film, went for an epic and mind-boggling transformation.

This is What Omung Kumar admitted in an interview –
“He cut down on his meals, filling up on coffee and water, even when we were shooting in Palghar and gorging on some great food. In his years in jail, Sarabjit was kept in a 4 x 4 room and had rat bites all over him. The first time I met Randeep, I told him that I wanted to see his bones. He took up the chal lenge and shocked even me,” admits Omung.
Randeep Hooda Went Unnoticed on the First Day of the Shoot Post Transformation
Even Omung Kumar, the director who had given the task of the transformation to Randeep couldn’t recognize Randeep on the first day. This what he revealed –
“In fact, the first day, a drastically different Randeep walked into the set, squatted on the floor behind the monitor and largely went unnoticed. It was only when I called for him that I realized he was sitting right there,” reminisces the National Award-winning director.
Randeep Hooda for the Last Few Days was Completely on Water
Wondering how did he lose weight so early and so quick? Well, the actor was kept on a strict diet under the observation of a doctor and his sister and in the last few days Randeep Hooda didn’t eat meals at all and simply sipped water. As mentioned by the director –
“The role needed Randeep to look very fragile with his bones being visible. He shed around 18 kgs of weight in 28 days, went through a strict diet and in fact in the last few days he was living completely on water,” said the director who is really very impressed with his actor.
