Rashami Desai got famous as Tapasya Thakur of Uttaran, however, the show was not her first on TV. She had already done several other shows before coming in the limelight as Tapasya. A talented actress, Rashami is now one of the top TV actor in the tele industry.

Rashami was born on August 4, 1986 in a Gujarati family in Nagaon, Aasam. Her original name was Divya Desai. She studied in Ulubari High School. As she was growing up, the actress was trained in two different styles of classical dancing – Bharatnatyam and Kathak.
Rashmi’s career in TV industry started in 2006 when she was merely 20. She was given the role of Mandodri in Zee TV’s Raavan. This continued for two years. Next, she was seen as Nikki/Pari in Star One’s Pari Hoon Mai. In the same year she also got another show Meet Mila De Raba where she essayed the role of Meher. The show was telecasted on Sony TV. In addition, she also did an episodic role for Shh Koi…Hai.
With Uttaran, Rashami did both negative and positive roles. She first entered the sets of Uttaran as a negative character and later after a break, she re-entered as a good human being. On and off, her journey in Uttaran continued for a good number of years, and she bagged 20 TV Awards for her role including the Golden Petal Awards, Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards, BIG Television Awards and the Global Indian Film and Television Honours.
After Uttaran, Rashami is now seen only in reality shows. She appeared in various reality shows one after the other. From comedy shows like – Kahaani Comedy Circus Ki, Comedy Ka Mahamuqabala, to reality dance show like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Season 5), Rashami was seen showing her multi-talent at various platforms. What’s more, she even participated in Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi (Season 6) which was won by Aashish Chaudhary. The show also had her husband Nandish Sandhu who was one of the semi-finalist. In 2012, she appeared as a guest in Movers and Shakers.
In 2012, Rashami Desai married her co-star Nandish Sandhu who essayed the role of Veer in Uttaran. She gave birth to a baby girl in 2013. A year later, the two started living separately. However, in 2015, Rashami moved in with Nandish again. The couple is now seen in a dance reality show Nach Baliye 7 and their chemistry proves that the two are very much together.
Besides TV, Rashami has done various Bhojpuri Movies
Before Rashami got famous as Tapasya Thakur, she did several B Grade Bhojpuri movies. Some of the Bhojpuri movies in which she acted are Pyar Jab Kehu Se Hoi Jala, Kab Hoi Gauna Hammar, Balma Bada Naadan, Bambai Ki Laila Chapra Ka Chaila, Tohse Pyar Ba, and Sathi Sanghati. Rashami was also seen in Dabangg 2, dancing in one of the songs.
