Finally, Ravi Bhatia makes an entry in Jodha Akbar as Salim! Although, he meets Jodha first, he calls Ruqaiyah his Ammi Jaan. Hmm, seems like the historic serial will become more serious hereon with the never-ending conflict triangle between Jodha – Salim and Akbar.
His Early Days in the Tele World
Remember Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaraay Mahabharat Ki Premiered on 9X somewhere in mid of 2008? Though the show went on, only for 75 Episodes, Ravi Bhatia made his entry into the world of Television with a bang.
Born on 30th November (Yes he is Sagittarian!) in Shimla, Ravi Bhatia had left his home to become an actor. Back then, he was hardly 18. After doing odd jobs, he finally reached Mumbai. As mentioned above, his fortune got him into Balaji Telefilms’ Mahabharat. Though he was seen in a small role, he had made his presence felt.
His Role in Various Serials
Ravi Bhatia was seen in many episodes of Veekram and Betal. He was also part of Rajat Tokas’ serial Dharam Veer where Bhatia played the supporting role of Kranti. At present, both the actors who are roughly of the same age are seen as Father and Son in the ongoing Track of Jodha Akbar.
The same year, that is 2008, he was also seen in ‘Dadagiri’ the reality show where he became famous for all the wrong reasons.
The Episode of ‘Dadagiri’
19 year old Ravi Bhatia became famous overnight for slapping a girl on a reality show titled ‘Dadagiri’ on UTV Bindaas. It all started when a girl opposite to him who was just supposed to abuse him (as per the scripted reality show) went ahead to slap him hard. A shocked Bhatia, in the heat of the moment slapped her back. Immediately he was surrounded by at least 70 people in the unit who started bashing him left and right. Somehow he managed to escape the chaos. Later Ravi even sent a legal notice to the makers of Dadagiri.
The Supporting Star
Soon, after his stint in Dadagiri, he essayed the role of Balma in Raja Ki Ayegi Baarat, a serial on Star Plus. Again a supporting role, Ravi in this serial played a loyal friend to the rowdy leading protagonist named ‘Veer’.
Ravi, throughout his early years was highly seen as a supporting Star until he got his biggest break in Sahara One’s Hamari Beti Raaj Karegi. Finally, there came a moment when Ravi moved a step ahead in his career graph when the hunk was offered a ‘good’ guy’s role in 2010. As Karan, he was widely loved by the people, not just for his role but also for his acting.
Recently, he was also seen as Vivek (Raghu’s Brother) in Zee TV’s yet another famous serial – Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se.
And then Jodha Akbar Happened…..
Out of the 12 contestant shortlisted by Ekta Kapoor, Ravi Bhatia was finalized to play the role of Akbar’s son Salim in the TV Jodha Akbar serial. While, his first look looks promising, we just hope, that Mr. Bhatia adds up all the spice, thrill, and power that his character demands in this periodic drama of Balaji Telefilms.
No wonder, Jodha Akbar is his biggest win so far and we wish him all the very best for this, and all his future projects!
