Today at various banks, senior citizens as old as 75 and above wait in long lines to withdraw their pension money. Earlier there were special lines as senior citizen lines, but these days such queues have just vanished, and these old people are forced to stand in lines along with the youngsters.
Too tired they sit in the near by benches and as their turn comes, are pushed back by the youngsters, saying they never stood in line. Even the bank staff refuse to help these people. At that old age they find it difficult to even use the ATM cards. Besides, they may be patients of various ailments. No wonder, they come and stand for hours together with the staff make then wait for various reasons – sometimes because of systems failure and at times due to net failure,
Why can’t there be a separate senior citizen queue or a particular time set for the day? Or perhaps a particular counter so that they need not wait in the long strenuous lines.
