“Femme Fatale” is considered a dangerous term for men, because the moment they meet such a woman they are ought to fall in a deadly trap. One such femme fatale on Indian TV is Durga Thakur who has come down to Kolkata only with the objective of destroying Shaurya Goenka. However, Durga is not a vamp but a protagonist who seeks revenge by exposing Shaurya, the rapist.
Durga’s journey is what the serial Ek Haseena Thi is all about. It is not even a month since the show went on air and the serial has already gained huge popularity. Here’s why:
1. It’s different
Most of the Indian Television series, whether historical drama or fictional daily soaps revolves around the same path – love story, marriage, in laws, a common enemy etc etc etc. However, Ek Haseena Thi is not about an abla naari or her constant problems with her mother in law. It is the story of a modern young woman who wants to take revenge, not for herself but for a rape victim she hardly knows.
2. It’s a Romantic Thriller
Yes, for the very first time we get to see a thriller on Indian Television and that too with a woman in its central role. For a change, here, a woman, Durga Thakur (Sanjeida Sheikh) with her manipulative mind and wits is plotting against a rapist Shaurya (Vatsal Seth) who is always sheltered by his rich and powerful parents Rajnath and Sakshi Goenka (Ayub Khan and Simone Singh).
3. The Story is Well Executed and Does Not Drag
The sequential plot of the serial is not only well framed but also well executed. The perfect blend of the present and past in a single frame makes the serial interesting. Besides, the presentation as well as narration adds as an icing on the cake. Needless to say, not even once will you feel that the story is being dragged.
4. Because of the Stellar Performances by the Brilliant Actors
Simone Singh in a negative role as Sakshi Goenka is the surprise package. Her screen presence for a change will not let you sympathize with her, like you might have done with her character in the past. Sanjeeda Sheikh, as usual gets you addicted to the show with her power-packed performance. No wonder, the beauty mesmerizes the viewers with her marvelous charm. Even the young spoilt brat Shaurya aka Vatsal Seth grabs huge eyeballs for his role as a player and womanizer.
5. The Mystery Factor
We all like a bit of mystery, isn’t it? However unlike the daily soaps where the mystery is all about the vamp and her conspiracies, this one comes with a great amount of turns and twists. With a right amount of mystery masala and enigmatic situations, the show manages to bring the chills down the spine.
6. The Strong Protagonist
One of the best part of Cinevista’s Ek Haseena Thi is that the show portrays a real woman unlike Ekta Kapoor’s utopian goody-goody woman who will never move outside her boundaries to prove her point, but will face all the adversaries that are forced on her. Here, Durga with a calculative mind won’t think twice before leaving the right path to get into the roots of the dark side. However, being modest she always remain within the limits of humanity, harming only the cruel.
