Right now there are only two production houses in the Indian TV circuit that are producing Indian mythological and historical series – one is Swastik Pictures and other is Contiloe Entertainment. Razia Sultan (&TV) and Suryaputra Karn (Sony TV) are run by Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Pictures and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (Colors) as well as Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman (Sony TV) are managed by Abhimanyu Singh’s Contiloe Entertainment.
Although both the houses are giving us both history and mythology right now, there is a huge difference between the two when it comes to quality and content. Here we share 5 such things what Swastik Pictures must learn from Contiloe Entertainment:
When you see animation in any TV serial produced by Contiloe you are impressed and are in love with the technology. However, when you see the same kind of attempt in Swastik Pictures, you feel cheated. For instance, the lion in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat who is symbolized as Chandragupta Maurya appears so real. They have used the same animated lion in Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman also when Hanuman wants to check his power.
On the other hand, the tiger in Suryaputra Karn with whom Duryodhan fights looks so unreal that it annoys the fans so much that the fans feel dejected. The same tiger was used in the opening sequence of Razia Sultan and we couldn’t help laughing seeing the situation.
If you see Suryaputra Karn you cannot help but curse the writers, directors and producers. No wonder, they are showing crap, yes completely nonsense. However, when you see Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman you are addicted to the show because there is less diversion. What’s more, wherever they have diverted the makers have tried to explore new corners which we didn’t know much about.
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat is a complete historical fiction where the makers of the serial takes a basic story, adds some fictional characters, puts an interesting plot (since we do not know much about that era or even about the main character) and give us an intriguing historical as well as thriller serial which we are addicted to. Not to miss the grand set, visually captivating animation, excellent background and equally brilliant sound effects. Same goes with Sony TV’s Hanuman.
However, when it comes to Suryaputra Karn the viewers are surprised to see that the makers have changed the basic plot of the serial. Here everything is against the Mahabaharat that was penned down by Ved Vyasa. Nobody likes to see the corrupted version. Swastik Pictures should seriously not try to divert the basic plot. It is not only annoying but very irritating.
The Sets and Background
The set and background of any Swastik Pictures’ serial is dull, dreary and lacks luster. Neither the palace nor the jungles or the cliff scenes looks real. The same problem was seen in Mahabharat also. I think, Siddharth Kumar Tewary should really look into this because this is where Abhimanyu Singh’s Contiloe is doing an amazing job – keeping the fans and critics happy all the time.
When Ashoka or Hanuman speaks, the audience gets attentive, listening what they are saying. The dialogue matches with the persona. However, whatever Karna speaks in the show is beyond his capacity and personality. The dialogues are too big for his mouth and status.
We hope that Swastik Pictures positively change for better and give us some really amazing shows improving in the above mentioned areas.
