Even before the grieving family of Maqsood could seek compensation for his tragic death after being mauled by a white Tiger in the Delhi zoo a lobby has started canvassing for the Tiger.

An interesting game has begun which portrays the Tiger as the Saviour instead of being the killer. The new line being put forward by a powerful section of the media is that the tiger had no intention of killing the boy. The fact that it looked at the boy sitting there with folded hands for about 10 to 15 minutes before picking it up by the neck proves that it was trying to save it from the noise and stone pelting by the gathered crowds

This group argues that the tiger actually picks up its cubs by the scruff of the neck and it tried to do the same with Maqsood and this was proved by the fact that there were only teeth marks on its neck and no other part of the body.

As usual it is the poor who suffer because they don’t have a lobby. The Tiger is a protected species in the world even if it kills whether in captivity or in the wild. Huge funds are available to  protect this endangered species but the family of poor Maqsood will have to fight and even bribe officials and politicians to get his due.

This is a strange phenomenon in this country and ironically we have learnt to live with it. No questions asked.
