Vasundhara Enclave is a rapidly developing area in East Delhi. The locality is situated at the border of New Delhi and Gautam Buddha Nagar, better known as Noida. The strategic location of the place serves as both an asset and liability for its residents. Courtesy it sproximity to Noida, the inhabitants of Vasundhra Enclave have the comfort of foraying into Uttar Pradesh for professional opportunities, shopping and other recreational facilities.
However, a visit to Great India Place in Sector 18, Noida for purchasing usually turns out to be quite a burden on the wallet of those who do not own cars. One usual problem which the residents face arises while commuting via autos. There is no free flow of autos across the Delhi-Noida border and hence, auto drivers either drop their passengers at the border orcharge exorbitantly high amount of money for driving them right till their desired destination.
Dharamshila Hospital & Research Centre, which specializes in cancer treatment, can easily be termed as the most widely recognized place in Vasundhara Enclave. The hospital which came into existence on 19th April, 1990 is duly accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers.
This jewel of Vasundhara Enclave serves as an identifying spot which auto-wallahs right from New Delhi Railway Station to New Friends Colony instantly recognize. In classical Indian tradition, doctors have generally been associated with something divine since they cure and save lives. Similarly, the sanctity of Dharamshila Hospital has come to be manifested via the presence of a small but influential temple where passers-by obediently bow their heads.
In his address to teachers and students on 5th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had very correctly pointed out at the importance of education and its intrinsic relationship with development. Vasundhara Enlclave, being home to a large number of forward looking individuals, realizes the importance of education. Over the years, there has been a drastic increase in the number of schools and colleges in Vasundhara Enclave.
The citizens of Vasundhara Enclave are aware of the benefits of democracy and collective decision making. For the welfare of its residents, the different apartments have constituted governing societies and representatives from each society serve on the Joint Forum of Vasundhara Enclave which acts as an umbrella body for all societies in the region.
Joint Forum, Vasundhara Enclave through its resilience and persistent hard work has succeeded at constructing a community hall for its members through individual donations and a grant worth Rs 5 lakh from Delhi Kalyan Society. The members of the society tout this achievement as one of a kind in the whole of Delhi.
During her visit to India in 2012, Oprah Winfrey had said, “India is a paradox.” This statement holds true for Vasundhara Enclave too where inclusive development is a distant dream.
While the residents dwelling in societies get water delivered to their door step by water suppliers, the people living in villages like Dallupura situated on the periphery of the society have to indulge in a slugfest to collect drinking water every evening when the Delhi Jal Board arrives with the same.
What is bewildering is that even small kids constitute a part of the queue whose only motive is to gather ample drinking water which would last till the next evening.
