It was the seventh day of the new year and one of the classic old chapters of Bollywood is over. The day couldn’t have begun uglier than waking up to the news of Om Puri‘s death. Padma Shri awardee Om Puri’s regime in Bollywood is prodigiously extraordinary to be woven in a string of words. Unfortunately, this chapter is over and will only be re-read from days now.
Puri had taken up a slew of projects in his lifetime of sixty-six years. Top name a few are Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Maachis, Gupt an so on. Puri had a strong grip on multitude of languages which fetched him roles in many Punjabi, Telegu, Marathi and Kannada films.
Hailing from Haryana, Puri graduated from Pune’s Film Institute Of India. He was also an alumnus of National School Of Drama. One may wonder on Puri’s accomplishments beyond the periphery of Bopllywood, that is, in Hollywood. Hollywood films such as Wolf, City Of Joy and The Ghost and the darkness were a few to have his sublime presence.
Since his death, Twitter is flooded with countless mournings.
