If You have sex in any form oral, anal or vaginal you are susceptible to Sexually Transmitted Diseases or STD. Straight or gay, married or single, naïve or professional, everyone is vulnerable to STD, particularly if you have sex with multiple partners.
There are a number of STD’s that has gone viral now. The most common ones are Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Genital Herpes, Genital Warts, Syphilis, Trichomoniasis and HIV infection.
Chlamydia, a bacterial infection has no noticeable symptom, making it very difficult for one to identify the disease. However, one may observe abnormal discharge from the penis in men and vagina in women accompanied with a burning sensation while urinating. Men face pain in the testicles while women undergoes pelvic organ inflammation. The way to treat Chlamydia is oral antibiotics.
Gonorrhea can be identified within 2 to 10 days after the exposure. The most common symptoms seen are bloody, cloudy or thick discharge from the vagina or penis, burning or sensation of pain during urination, abnormal menstrual bleeding, painful swollen testicles, painful bowel movements and anal itching.
Genital herpes, being highly contagious is one of the most awful of all disorders that are transmitted sexually. It is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus or HSV which enters into the body through tiny breaks in your mucous membrane or skin. The majority of the people suffering from this disease doesn’t know that they are suffering from it because of its mild symptom. HSV causes blisters, red bumps in the genital area. There is also itching and pain in the inner thighs and buttocks. Although there is no cure for the disease, an antiviral drug can help in reducing the frequency of pains.
Genital Warts is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases with symptoms such as itching, discomfort in the genital area. In addition, cauliflower shaped warts that amalgamate together are observed in the region. In case of oral sex, it can happen in the mouth.
Syphilis can be a problem if you observe sores either in the mouth or in the genital region. These sores generally heal all by themselves and last for about five weeks. Headaches, fever, swollen glands, patchy hair loss and weight loss without any itch can be the indication of second stage syphilis. Paralysis and gradual blindness are the last and end stage of syphilis which can cause mortality. It can be treated with antibiotics.
AIDS and HIV
AIDS and HIV is perhaps the most common STD. Though there are no peculiar symptoms, infected people develop non specific illnesses after 2 to 4 weeks of acquiring infection. This initial illness is characterized by fever, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, sore throat, joint and muscle pains. Normally the initial period is of two weeks but in rare cases it can even extend up to 10 months. HIV can happen even without exhibiting the initial illness. If the symptoms of HIV are acute, the syndrome is called as the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or AIDS. This disease does not have any permanent cure.
