Finally the wait is over as starting from February 2, that is today, Colors TV is all set to telecast its most awaited serial of the year – Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. A historical show, the series will not just show us the achievements of Ashoka, the great but also his struggle right from his early days.
Here we tell you why you should watch Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat on Colors:
1. Because For the Very First Time You Will Get to Witness the Life Story of Ashoka on TV
I agree Shah Rukh Khan is the very first Ashoka that we have watched on TV. However, the pleasure of watching a historical series on a small screen is way different than a three hour movie. The very reason is the depth of the story where we get to witness several instances in details. In addition, we will see Ashoka’s life from his early days to his heydays as Ashoka, the great, something which we aren’t much aware of.
2. Because the Rich, Glorious Mauyran Empire Will Come Alive in our Living Room
The period of the Guptas and the Maurya’s are India’s richest period where India was not only strong, and united but also very powerful. Nobody dared us, not even the Greeks. So, through the serial, we shall get to see our glorious past, something we are all proud of till today.
3. Because We Will Know More about Ashoka other than the Kalinga War and its After Effects
All we know about Ashoka is how powerful he was, and of course the Kalinga war, the Pyrrhic victory, the aftermath thereafter. However, the serial before reaching the Kalinga war will show us how us Ashoka’s journey – how he became the emperor in spite of not being the elder son of Emperor Bindusara, his struggle against his own brothers and lots more which we have not read or heard much about.
4. The Cast Looks Promising
A historical serial becomes engrossing with its cast, and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat has the best of the star cast esp when it comes to the central characters. Sameer Dharmadhikari who plays the role of King Bindusara has been phenomenal in various epics such as Buddha (as Sudodhana), Mahabharat (as King Shantanu). Manoj Joshi, who will play Chanakya has been playing the role of Chanakya on stage from past 15 years now. The young Ashoka, Siddharth Nigam’s brilliant performance was already the nationa’s talk after Dhoom 2. Pallavi Subhash (Ashoka’s mother), Shailesh Dattar (Bindusara’s minister), Prinal Oberoi (First Wife Of Bindusara), Tej Sapru (Selecus Nicator), Sumit Kaul (Justin) are also known for their acting skills.
5. Because It Has the Best Historical Writer
Ashok Banker is known for his historical and mythological writings. Now that Ashok Banker is the writer we know the story, plot and all the sequences in the series will be very engrossing. Besides, there is little to worry about the serial’s fictional aspect because Ashok Banker is a well-known writer who is best known for his mythological retellings.
6. Of course the Magnificent Set
A historical drama becomes all the more interesting due to its beautiful set where it takes you to the glorious era, the lavish palaces, the grandeur settings of the past and lot more. In addition, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat will have VFX throughout – Now doesn’t that doubles the excitement in you? Just imagine how amazing it would be to see the wars!
7. It Will Provide Us with The Teachings Of Chanakya
Chankaya’s teachings are still relevant even in Modern India, this shows what a scholar and visionary he was. No wonder, the serial via Chankaya will also try to educate the present India wrt democracy, politics etc.
8. The Ideologies of Ashoka and his Thoughts on Various Issues Which still Persist in Modern India and the World
Aren’t we all eager to know Ashoka’s thought, ideologies, and outlook on various things, including non-violence, and wars? In addition many things more about the Ashoka pillar, the edicts and his own religion Dhamma which he created? Then again, his views to teach our modern society some valuable lessons, especially the politicians of the current India.
9. To Witness the Life of a Woman in the Mauryan Empire
Life of women in Mauryan Empire was very good as they enjoyed high status unlike the times of Medieval and Modern Age where women had to suffer atrocities. This generates enough curiosity to see how women back in the Mauryan Era enjoyed their independence.
10. To Enjoy our Rich Culture, History and Glory – Why Should Only Invaders Enjoy All the Attention
Strange but true, our history text books tell us more about the invaders and their life stories, but less of our own rulers. With serials like Veer Shivaji, Chandra Gupta Maurya, Maharana Pratap and now Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, for a change we get to know the glorious past of our own son, the unique reforms he made for the society. Time to cherish our own son rather than focusing on the might and secularism of the Mughals…
