In the 20th century CE an unprecedented historic incident happened. It happened without the use any lethal weapons, any traditional violent warfare, large scale human slaughter and destruction. The brutal military violence of a state got humbled and defeated by the united peoples action, their power of justice, truth, will and moral. The state-foreign rulers – who announced several times that the sun never sets on their empire, were forced to voluntarily concede their inability to rule, to perpetuate their unjust, immoral exploitation and loot of Bharat. The country became free. Freedom was won and earned by people countering all the foxy, jackal divisive tricks of the colonial rulers.

Mahatma Gandhi In Jabalpur 300x259 What Makes Gandhi Mahatma

Mahatma Gandhi

This incident proved that of all the powers – state power, money power, power of clever manipulations used and exercised for unjust and immoral purposes – the united will and moral power (Atma Shakti) of the people working for truth, justice and equality is stronger.

All this happened under the extraordinary leadership of one Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His weapon? United community non-cooperation with injustice and boycotting the forces of injustice.

With the simple and unique tool of Non-Cooperation, Gandhiji invented a new method and strategy (upaya) to solve problems. Before Gandhi, there existed 4 methods or upayas – saam, daan, bhed and dand – i.e. negotiation, financial incentive, dividing the enemy forces and violence. Non-cooperation said, “I will not participate in and perpetuate in the wrong. If you tax salt, I will not participate in your despotism. I will make salt myself.”

In the political world this is equal to the invention of time as a 4th dimension in the physical science world.

Non-violent struggle was Gandhiji’s other major facet and gift to the world. Along with the incredible power of non-cooperation, into a world that only had a history of violence, Gandhiji refused to take to arms. His non-violence shouted out: I will not participate in your tyranny and I will not lower myself to your bestial level.

It was the miracle of the man’s charisma that an entire nation followed both the unheard-of methods unquestioningly and completely.

The largest colonial power in the world, that once infamously described Gandhiji as the “loin clothed beggar”, could do nothing. They gave up, raised their hands in surrender, confessed their inability to continue their loot and left.

It is a known fact that all the capital for the growth of the tiny, impoverished, natural resource-less Britain came from the mammoth, then super rich, industrialized country with enormous human intellectual and natural resources – Bharat. The British were forced to leave their ill-gotten, most valuable asset.

British quit Bharat. It had a chain reaction in the whole of Asia, Africa and elsewhere in the world. The colonial rule in various counties came to an end one after the other. The history and the geography of the world changed.

The freedom movement of Bharat – Quit India – is magical, unprecedented historic landmark resulting in a new world. This was possible only because of the man about whom Einstein said,  “Generations to come, it may well be, will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.”

Gandhi. The Mahatma.
